Ph.D. in Biomedical SciencesThe University of South Carolina (USC) School of Medicine offers Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences through ‘Integrated Biomedical Science Program’ or directly through Post-Baccalaureate and Graduate Program. In the integrated program the student has a choice to select faculty mentor from different departments of USC including School of Medicine (Department of Cell Biology & Anatomy, Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology and Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience), School of Arts and Sciences (Department of Biological Sciences and Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry), School of Pharmacy and School of Public Health (Department of Exercise Science).Whereas, in the Post-Baccalaureate and Graduate Program the students will have a choice of selecting faculty mentor only from the departments of School of Medicine. The later students will select from over forty faculty with expertise in the areas including cancer, inflammation, neuroscience, cardiovascular biology, alternative medicine and others.
